Show us your SLR...

It's a clip-on light meter from Pentax.

i decided to go on a tangent. and bought a Contax AX camera.
this camera was first introduced in the mid-90s, it provides
a autofocus system for manual focused lens based on the C/Y mount.
This means that Contax zeiss lens + Yashica Manual focused SLR lens
works as AF on this camera.

it is a huge camera, but actually looks more like a Canon DSLR except
that it is a chunk of heavy metal and plastic.

I bought this from KEH.com for under 300 usd and added a 50 planar 1.4 for
a similar amount. So far, shooting this is a blast, and coming from a Nikon FM
base, I really like the automation so far. I ran through 2 rolls today, to check
shooting at low handheld speeds, dunno if 1/15 will work out given the heavy
base, but i hope so. i also ordered a 85/f1.4 planar for around 300+ usd. Overall
this system is quite inexpensive considering how much zeiss lens are going for
today.

here is a blackberry shot:

My trusty setup.

Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f2, L1A.

Have always been pushing film and shooting with coloured filters, took a step back and has been shooting low ISO film with clear filter lately

I share your setup, but on a FM2 and also a F601M. Like the softrelease button.

The Nikkor 50mm F2 is a great lens. Use a HN2 hood, it will fare even better.

One of Pentax's three Princesses. Lovely!

Did you know that Cosina also made the 40mm F2.8 ? I use it on the Ricoh XR-10X, as a light weight compact setup.

The soft release button makes it so much more comfortable to shoot, it's really important for me to feel comfortable with my camera. I taped a bunch of foam to have a comfy grip cos I use a wrist strap, I usually hold it behind my back as I walk. Without that, my fingers would get sore very quickly. I have a cheap lens hood, but it kinda makes the lens look "longer" and people get intimidated when they see it.

the princesses all have "limited" words on it. this one is plastic, although 0.5cm thinner than the limited version :bsmilie:

i remember I saw porst/revuenon 45mm f2.8 in K mount on ebay. not sure if cosina 40mm or 45mm, f2.8 or f2.5.

Cosina 45mm F2.8 in Germany? I have the same lens. Will post later.
Shockingly, it was comparable to the Zeiss 45mm F2.8 which cost much more.

Recently moved from MF to SLR. Temporarily using my office's AF-D 50mm f1.4, until i have monies/find a lens I prefer haha

Nice. Yeah, an Ai-S or Ai lens would be nice.

BTW does anybody have a black FM to let go? I need a backup body

f3hp... great choice for "crossover"

agree with Riotbmx... ai/ai-s lenses would be great choices. if you like 50mm, there's literally a 50mm for almost any budget. can't go wrong with any of them

I actually did bought a 50mm f1.2 AI-S lens. But the seller was a scumbag who ripped me off and didn't tell me it had fungus in it until i sent it for servicing (Didn't see it either on the spot cause my eyes were bad and I can't really see it well. So partially my fault as well.). Despite sending the lens to servicing and cleaning, they still couldn't completely remove the fungus, neither can I live with the fact there's fungus (i'm very OCD haha) so I sell it off to a nice man who accepted the lens anyways, even when i told him there's fungus in it :)

Time to hunt for a Nikkor 50mm f2. Ask Nikkomos and he'll tell you you how good it is. I used to think fast lens=good lens, leant it the hard way. Sold off my Nikkor 50mm f1.4 already and I'm very happy now :)

Hmm based on your personal thoughts, how good is the lens exactly in terms of performance and optics? I'm not familiar with manual lenses so it'll be great to hear some personal reviews of the said recommended lens :)
