All our Acratech Ballheads have a Quick-Release clamp with detent pin
Camera specific, Arca Swiss compatible quick release plates have long been regarded by professional photographers as the best method of attaching a camera or lens to a tripod head. The only problem with this system is that if the clamping knob is accidentally bumped and partially loosened the plate and its attached camera can slide out. This rarely actually happens but, the thought of it bothers many users and would be users of this system.
At Acratech we have developed a spring-loaded detent pin that projects into the pockets or windows that are cut into the bottom of most manufactures (Acratech, Kirk, Really Right Stuff, etc.) quick release plates. Our detent pin will prevent the plate from accidentally sliding out in the event that the knob is partially loosened.

New Model : Acratech GV2 Ultimate Ballhead (Gimbal)

The new Acratech GV2 Ballhead is uniquely designed to function both as a ballhead and as a Gimbal head.
Traditional ballhead designs work well for most photography but when longer lenses with tripod collars are used; it can be difficut to control them. In the past it was necessary to carry a separate Gimbal head or Gimbal attachment for your ballhead. Our Acratech GV2 Ballhead solves this problem by functioning as a Gimbal head simply by rotating the ball into the Gimbal slot on the side of the ballhead. We put a bushing on the stem of the ball and a pin on the bottom of the ball to provide smooth rotation. It provides total ease of use and freedom of movement. The Ultimate GV2 Ballhead works well with lenses up to a 400f4.0.

We can bring one in on special order. The benefit of these types of tripod heads are really the QR system thus it defeats the purpose to not have the QR clamp.

We have completely sold out of the GV2 versions and we still have a couple of units left of the Acratech V2 Ultimate Ballhead together with an assortment of body plates for Canon and Nikon popular DSLR models.

PM me or post in this thread for more information.

We shall be getting another shipment of the GV2 ballheads soon as a number of members have enquired about it. If you want to reserve a unit of the GV2 from the next shipment, please PM me. Thanks.

Hi Darren,

Been asking for the 6" lens plate for sometime now (PMed you a few times, but no reply after the initial correspondence). Any update? Thanks!

Interested to get the GV2. Are you still taking orders?

I have the older Acratech but the spring mechanism is spoilt. Is it possible to replace the just the top plate section as shown here? If so, how much?

Thanks.
