I think the old birds here started to realize there are many a time where new Lumixers and potential Lumixers came in to the forum just post questions without doing any search on the forum.

This really makes life hard to the existing Lumixers, since we spent tones of hours discussing, sharing the knowledges and ideas, and when we see the same questions posted again with a new thread, the first thing that naturally came into our minds are: "Are we going to start this discussion all over again? Don't the new guys know how to use the search tool in the forum and search first?"

Well, while many of the new people may thought that the Pana thread is new, but looking at the number of posts that we had done, we have certainly covers rather intensively on the equipments, accessories, tips and techniques, etc.

I am not sure if it help for us to put on a sticky thread, topic as "FAQ for Lumix cameras and accessories"?

Do you guys think that will help??

Well, i'll say it's a good idea cos i must admit that i myself don't really search 1st before posting. I normally flip through the 1st 3 pages of the Pana forum and if i don't see it, a new post is made ;) Well Jim, good idea you got there.

I support the idea of a FAQ, which will be very helpful to new user like me.

I would like to share my experience as a newbie, sometime it is not that newbie dont search, I agree that Lumix forum has lots of common questions that are discussed before, but sometimes a eager newbie will have a ton of questios, and he/she will  if he/she is going to read through all the threads item by item.

Therefore the easiest thing is to post a new question, maybe the question may sound stupid and ignorant, but to the newbie it is very relevant.

I can understand the frutration of the old birds here, but no need to snub the newbies, if you think that it is wastage of time to reply to a newbie question, just ignore, no need to post comments that look very unfriendly, which I ganna b4

A FAQ will definitely help. I am sure some people here will be more than glad to answer newbie questions, even though it has been asked a 1000 times :)

It's a great idea. PLUG will benefit!

yah support!!

I support sticky FAQ.
I did search for my question but mostly turn up lot of threads in many pages and
I got to go in thread by thread to find my answers.

I been thinking of the FAQ but then my knowledge wasnt that wide. hehe.

If not, we can just find those old link post in the FAQ which may benefits for the newbie. At least there are much stuff which had been dicussed before.

Maybe we can start doing the following:

1) Indentify the problem or freq asked areas (Equipment, Accessories, Shops, sites for uploading of pictures etc)
2) Look for previous threads and answer and comply them into a single area.
3) Open a new thread (No posting on this thread. Only starter and mod can edit)
4) Review answer and update questions.

basically, it might be something like the below:

Reviews

FZ10 - (Hyperlink to xxxx website)
FZ20 - xxxx
.....

Accessories

Phayee Adaptors - [hyperlink to thread]
Step Down rings - [short write up]
WCON- [short write up and hyperlink to thread]
TCON - [Short write up and hyperlink to thread]

Nope. Normally a mod will have the word "Moderator" somewhere near his nick. I think the only exception is Adam. The next one will be Admin.

advance search allow ur search to be shown by posts instead of threads...

i think the reason is bcos some newcomers dun really frequent forums and are not aware of this "etiquette".... and of cos the easy way out is to just pop a new Q.....

Instead of FAQ as title. Put it as

Newbies of Lumixers, Pls read the FAQ :)

It will be hard for us to do when there's no MOD ard. Hope the MOD will monitor ard here (which I know they will)

Cheers. Hope to see the MOD soon ;)
